As we move onwards to Apache NetBeans 12.6 there are a number of points that still need resolution before the freeze date on Oct 15th - some mentioned in the previous lazy consensus thread on releases in January [1].
This is thread 2 of 2. If consensus on moving towards JDK 11+ is not reached, the rest of this might be reviewed. We'd like to propose the following - * The next release will remain NetBeans 12.6. * The following release will be NetBeans 13, with following quarterly releases of 14, 15, 16, etc. (13.0, 14.0, etc. may be used in certain bits of infrastructure if necessary to maintain compatibility) * NetBeans 13 will not be an LTS, and no future LTS are currently planned. (NetBeans 12.0 has not had any updates since Feb, and only twice to date; neither the linked or last update source releases still build; what do we mean by long term *supported*?!) * NetBeans 12.0 will be archived from the point of NetBeans 12.6 release. This thread is open for 72hrs under lazy consensus [2]. I'd summarize and expand that to don't make extra work for other people. ie. -1 any point here if you are offering an alternative that you can help implement OR if any point will cause problems / extra work for you.
