Hi, How would it works during delivery branching phase on the main repo with spec increment and so on? The others products have their own git that's easy 😃
Best Regards Eric -----Message d'origine----- De : Martin Balin <mba...@apache.org> Envoyé : lundi 28 octobre 2024 17:04 À : dev@netbeans.apache.org Objet : Apache NetBeans extension for Visual Studio Code Hi, As many here know, the Apache NetBeans project is releasing many artifacts, grouped to many "products". The products are e.g. the NetBeans IDE, HTML4J, the NBM Maven plugin, and quite a few others. These have separate release schedules, based on the needs of the specific product. One of the things this project is releasing is the NetBeans extension for Visual Studio Code. Currently, it is being released together with the NetBeans IDE, and often also inbetween of the IDE releases. We think it might be useful to recognize this Visual Studio Code (VS Code for short) extension as a separate product, with its own release schedule. The reason is that the plugins in the VS Code ecosystem usually have fairly short release cycles, so it would be good to be able to get closer to release timeframes other extensions have. And, releasing the extension is much easier compared to the full IDE release - there is no need to have per-platform installers, update centers etc., as the installation and updates are done using the VS Code. As a consequence, the VS Code extension would be decoupled from the NetBeans IDE release. But, it would still be an ASF release, and it could even be released from the main NetBeans repository. In other words, the proposal is not to change anything but the release timeline for the NetBeans extension for VS Code. Any comments/objections?
