The idea is for Friends of Apache NetBeans to provide a centralized place where PMC members can create and test installers for inclusion in the Community Installers list on the Apache NetBeans download page.
The first round of this would ideally be for the release we're currently working on, with the RC2 being the trial run for that. I'll be the PMC member putting those installers together and testing them. The infrastructure is there, thanks to Neil and Pieter, and where help is needed I'll reach out to them for their respective insights. I'll be tracking things closely to make sure this kicks off with the RC2 release.
