Note that in terms of Apache trademarks "Apache-Netbeans-9.0-MacOSX" is not an appropriate name for something that's not from Apache. It should rather be called something like "MacOSX Launcher for Apache NetBeans" which removes the possible confusion. It's a small thing in this case, but if the NetBeans (P)PMC does not actively protect their trademark in general it can be much harder to defend it if a more serious case comes up - which is more likely for a project that NetBeans which has a large audience than for some of our obscure Apache infrastructure projects that are hard to explain to my grandmother. There's more detail at http://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/ http://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/faq/ For now, if the owner of that GitHub repository reads this it would be nice to change the name (no big deal - sorry that you are being used as an example for such a minor thing) and NetBeans (P)PMC members please take note of the importance of protecting your trademark. -Bertrand --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@netbeans.incubator.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@netbeans.incubator.apache.org For further information about the NetBeans mailing lists, visit: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Mailing+lists
