Thanks to everyone who provided comments.. They might have been small comments but they did help me to figure out the problem.
Turns out the Fedora 29 distro installed version of Ant is missing an ant utility package. It was easily installed and now it compiles and runs.. YEA!! My last question.. I would like update the wiki build page with a very simple comment, if this is acceptable. This way, others will who encounter the same problem can easily move forward. How do I ask for edit permissions? Thanks. -brad w.
