I am currently attempting to get protected / kernel builds working on the ESP32P4, specifically the Tab5. I have managed to get some way into this but I have hit a road block.
I suppose my first question should be - Is this possible. From what I can see in the documentation it should be but I cannot see any instances of this being done (NuttX of FreeRTOS). My Google-Foo my be letting me down… I have managed to get nsh running over USB in a flat build. My next step was to try and get this running as a protected build. This is where the problems started. It appears that the nsh USB protected build does start as the kernel outputs some syslog messages. I can in certain circumstances get the banner message shown. There is however no nsh> prompt and the device seems to lock. It is at this point where my knowledge of RISC-V is lacking. I have had to resort to using LLMs to try and diagnose the problem and no luck. I am using the 13.0 release branch, not sure if this has any impact. One avenue I have not investigated is to remove USB from the equation and just try nsh over serial in a protected build. Any advice or help would be appreciated.
