With the great difference between the numbers of subscribers of dev@ and notifications@ (last time I checked notifications@ had around 50), I advise against it.
If we want more people to contribute we need more than just the handful of active committers/contributors and employees of system integrators, we need to ensure that such notifications get sent to largest subset of our community (dev@).
