So far, I have developed 1 app completely in Java 8 and converted our
ADTransform product from Java 7 to Java 8.
I had no problems.
I am pretty sure that you will find it pretty painless.
I don't have any metrics on the performance improvement but it certainly
seems as fast as Java 7 both in compiling and at run-time.
No strange run-time or compile issue and you have probably worked
through all of the OFBiz upgrade issues now.
Good move to open the door to the use of streams and lambdas.

Hi,
Good news we can now compile trunk and all branches with Java 8 see
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-5835
BTW the EOL of Java 1.7 is near, so good timing to change our
documentation.
I believe using Java 8 should not be a problem, more a good thing. But
I must say here I still use Java 1.7, so need confirmation by the
community.
