Collapsing a search screen in one app indeed sets the user preference. Which is
then applied in every other search screen in all applications. Surely, that is
not the way to have the user experience enhanced.
Before a user is enabled to set and manage his user preferences, it is the
implementing organisation who decides whether that is allowed or not. And that
is not in place, either.
So it is better to improve the organisational side first, before we improve the
user experience regarding preference management.
