Nu Huynh commented on OFBIZ-6646:
---------------------------------

@ Rong: It's a group of companies locating in Thailand, Singapore, Philippines,
Indonesia, Australia & Hong Kong. There might be common format for financial or
statutory accounting reports, but management reports are up to manager's
discretion, in another word, who knows what managers in each country want to
see.

Most of the time, the finance department design the chart of account to respond
to managers' two most demanding reports: comparative income statement & balance
sheet (including some KPI, which is another issue). Please take at a look at my
file for demonstration.
First section is a customized chart of accounts (income statement only), which
has 5 levels down.
Second is what managers want to see in an Income Statement, which are level 1 -
3.
Third is what Ofbiz currently shows, level 4 & 5 and a totally irrelevant
summary.

If users have an option to show parent GL accounts & their balance, (each level
in a separate column in CSV file or export the selected level only), the report
is almost ready with a click.

> Option either to show parent GL account in accounting reports (BS & IS) or to
> customize the report

> Currently, balance sheet and income statement only show lowest level / child
> GL accounts having at least one transaction, hence a balance, in a period.
> However, as an end user, I find it is necessary to show all Parent GL
> accounts which balance is the sum of all its child accounts.
> For us, they are more than just to show up in the "Navigate accounts"
> section. They are main sections of our own reports. The standard format of
> reports in Ofbiz is too condensed and the users do not have the option to
> customize this.
> I have tried to customize the Income Statement by creating some new GL
> account classes e.g "Non Operation Expenses" via Entity Data Maintenance but
> they don't show up in Income Statement. So I guess it is not that
> straightforward to customize reports.
