I agree that check box is more convenient when there are comparatively fewer
options to select from (i.e. less than 8-9 options). At the same time other
patterns like multi-select jquery or multi-select within drop-down itself could
be preferred choice when there are relatively large number to choose from (i.e
>10 options) as in those cases showing all options at a time in form of
checkboxes would distort UI and consume lot of screen real estate
