In my opinion it would be better to initially focus on the implementation of a
clean and neat version of the script and postpone any discussion or work about
migrating features and tasks as they were available in the old Ant scripts.
Over the years the Ant scripts have grown with useful features and less useful
ones, adding some clutter and making them difficult to maintain.
I am sure that there could be a valid use case for each of them, but for most
of them a simple custom script should suffice to adjust to specific use cases:
I think that delivering a simpler and nice script, easy to read and customize
and properly documented, can be more useful and effective to users than trying
to provide a complete solutions for every possible use case.
The above reasoning applies to the implementation of interactive tasks (that
can wait and should be reconsidered or re-evaluated at a later time), to the
JDBC downloads of db drivers (other than the default one) and to other ones as
well.
