Hi Anurag,
I did check the use case with the reference scenario that is part of OData2-jpa 
processor and the $select system query option works for expanded entity. 

Can you attach the call stack and the exception that you are getting.

Secondly "*" is not handled currently in OData2-jpa processor which i am 
currently looking into it. I guess "*" use case is reported in [OLINGO-132]
