[~lars_francke], instead of removing the check completely, can you just remove
the max javaVersion and keep the 1.6 as the minimum for now? (we can revisit
this in the future to change it to JDK 7 or even 8). Basically just what
Hadoop is doing here:

Please update the docs accordingly as well.
