Christopher & the Dev List, I would like to volunteer to be that champion that AGS Mapcache needs. I am intimately familiar with OL and using it with AGS mapcaches as well as other more standard layer sources. I have made some required modifiactions to that layer class already. I apologize for not following through previously with the needful things to get that code into the trunk. I quitely posted it to my snadbox and commented about it in a ticket or this list a while back. So I will take the rest of the steps to getting something in the trunk by: 1. submitting a useable patch to the appropiate existing or new ticket 2. writing the unit tests for that patch 3. creating at least one example documenting the use of an AGS mapcache layer 4. writing some wiki documentation about the practical use of such a layer and the information you need to know before you can reasonably use it.
I currently make half or more of my income developing OpenLayers based mapping applications. Many of those applications make use of some ESRI server technoligies. I have made half-hearted attempts to give back to the community in the past. Always figuring either my contribution wouldn't really matter or that someone with better qualifactions would do it for me. Christopher has inspired me to see that if I am truly benifiting to the degree that I am from the work others have doen with this library, that it is only fair for me to honestly give back to the community in any area where I have some level of expertise or understanding that is possibly useful. It seems that it is not enough to merely make a small mention of some obsource piece of personal code in my sandbox, but should take all the steps required to make it into something worthy of honest review. Thanks for your honesty, opinions, and tremendous amounts of hard work Christopher. And thank you to all the core contributors to this marvelous project.
