The Project Management Committee (PMC) of Apache OpenNLP is delighted to share
that Kristian has been invited to join as a committer — and we’re even more
pleased to announce that he has accepted.

When I first began contributing and was later invited to become a committer on
several ASF projects, Jean-Louis and David B. (in Apache TomEE) shared a
wonderful message with me. It was inspired by the proverb, “It takes a village
to raise a child.” Their words captured beautifully what open source is all
about. I can’t hope to match their phrasing, but I truly share the sentiment
for you, Kristian.

Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to nurture
and grow an open source project. Half of that effort is the contributor’s
dedication, and the other half is the community’s responsibility to create the
space and support needed for success.

So, in my simple but heartfelt “germenglish,” I’ll say this: I am very proud to
be making this announcement on behalf of the Apache OpenNLP PMC.
Your contribution towards thread safety to Apache OpenNLP embody the Apache
Way. We are grateful you accepted the invitation.

As a committer, you’ll now be able to contribute more seamlessly, which should
boost productivity..
Once again, congratulations Kristian and thank you for everything you’ve
already given to the community.

Let's join together in extending a warm welcome and a thank you to him.

Gruß
Richard
