Hi List,
I agree that the conent (no content) is not good. What we want the user
to do is to select an object or create/insert one, so it would be nice
to offer just that. It is a suggestion, but offering insertin of objects
may be best. Possibilities for this:
(1) Gallery
(2) Panel which offers to start DrawObject construction, like in the
drawing toolbar
We have a panel for (1), but the context switch would need to change the
TabBar (instead of reacting on context switch and changing the panels
dependent of content).
We have no panel for (2), but it may be not too difficult to crreate
one. Wouldn't it be nice to have/show that panel for other apps, too? It
could show the draw object creators as ToolBars with useful groups, but
some of this vertically, thus offering a much more direct selection
which object creation to start than the current Draw toolbar offers...
Maybe too much for 4.0, but...
Sincerely,
Armin

With the sidebar enabled, on a Draw document with no object selected the
Properties deck shows no controls and only displays the following text
"Properties for the task that you are performing are not available in
the
sidebar at this time"
This text is a bit misleading, because it is not clear that you only
need
to select an object to see something there.
I'm no native English speaker so I'm not able to provide a good
alternative
for that text. Something like
"Please, select an object to access its properties"
comes to my mind, but for sure there is a better wording. Suggestions?
Regards
Ricardo
Thanks for starting this discussion. What about this:
"Properties for the task that you are performing are not available for
the current selection"
