An update, It seems this issue is caused by glibc 2.41. You can check your version using $ ldd --version or $ /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6
Search has turned up an article by Liam Dawe, author of gaming on linux (https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/02/the-glibc-2-41-update-has-been-causing-problems-for-linux-gaming/) which links to a bugzilla report for glibc discussing the issue, which can be found here https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=32653 Its seems this was the release announcement, https://sourceware.org/pipermail/libc-alpha/2024-December/163146.html, and relates to the use of dlopen/dlmopen. These changes seem to be a response to a CVE (https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2023-38408). I believe you have this all under control, it seems like this will be affecting some portion of your user base. When I asked Brave (Leo) about "known problems due to change in glibc 2.41" it seems like this has caused issues in several spaces. The known workarounds seem to be, "downgrade to glibc 2.40, using execstack -c on the affected libraries, and, developers should update their binaries to properly include GNU_STACK headers or avoid requiring executable stacks." - Brave (Leo) I appreciate the work you are all doing, keep up the great work. Basically, when I save a document for the first time it throws this error, but not on subsequent saves (unless I 'Save As' another file name). Attempting to open files results in "General Error", Upon selecting okay, the file opens. Attempting to open files created with my previous system, also results in "General Error". Using "Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.15_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-GB" which is "AOO4115m2(Build:9813) - Rev. 5f13fa0070 2023-11-29 07:03 - Linux x86_64" System is "Debian 6.12.48-1 (2025-09-20) x86_64 GNU/Linux" Install was completed using same method outlined in https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Debian_Installation Troubleshooting I tried was installing a JRE (as using terminal to run soffice showed "javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!"), but made no difference. I also checked that the system included glibc2. It seems to have libc(2.41), which is what the glibc file from debian looks to contain. I also checked the sha512 sum and was good. Unsure if related, but the application takes longer to load than my previous system (same computer). Thought to send this out to you guys, incase there is something to it. Keep up the good work, Dean
