Cool :) What's your main interest - core, components, helping on bug fixes?
If your answer is "writing a helpful component for OOo from scratch", I would suggest writing the "Creative Commons" component. http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=17284 I think there is a lot of interest in such a component, but nobody volunteered to write that (right now).
