Good Day,
I am new to OO, but am loving it thus far. I do have a dilemna with
the
TRUE function. I have created a database of personal contact info
for an
exhibit I am curating. One of the artists has the surname of
'True'. I've
tried again and again to enter as such, but Calc automatically
changes it
to 'TRUE' and apparently attaches the TRUE function to it. It also
lists
the name at the top of the list when I sort the data.
Please advise on how to override this.
Thank you,

Ann,
You can do it with a formula something like =IF(2>1;"True";"False")
Then, if you like, you can copy the cell, do paste special, select
another cell, clear all the check boxes except Text and click OK.
You end up with a cell containing 'True, but without the ' visible.
That's what I tried first, but if you enter it directly, the ' is
visible. I don't know whether part of this is a bug.
Sorting then works, but you seem to need to clear all the check boxes
in the options pane.
Interesting little problem!
Ah, Joost is right, 'True should work, and it does in version 2.4.1,
but not in the beta of version 3. It's a bug which I'll report if it's
not already been picked up.
No, it wasn't a bug. It was autocorrect. If you have 'smart quotes'
turned on (use Tools > Autocorrect > Custom Quotes to turn them on and
off), the quote mark you type is turned into a curly one and as that is
a different character from ', calc displays it and sorts with it. You
probably only needed Joost's answer! Apologies if all this has confused
you. It just shows how difficult things can be for users when something
unexpected happens...
