Hi All,

This is Sameer, who is trying to learn as well as educate the user to
use the Worlds one of the best Open source software. i.e OpenOffice.
As I couldn't figure out, to whom this email should be addressed, I'm
doing it for all. Please let me know for whom it should be so that I
can address it properly next time.

While working in OpenOffice we come accross some issues which I
thought of addressing you so that they
can be tested in your QA lab, and if they really exist get resolved in
the next release of Openoffice.
As I'm giving out the issues from the live senario, if these gets
resolved  faster, Openoffice will become
more and more user friendly as well as more and more users will accept
and like it.

If there is any other way to convey the message to you, please let me
know that as well. I very well
understand that there are forums and mailing lists are available for
the openoffice help and support.

Now about the problems no not exactly problems but rather queries...

The basic issue I/we face is, compatibility with the MS office 2003,
as we always exchange the
documents with the ms office users.

Issues in Writer...

1.   When a document is formated using OOo3.x, and saved into a .doc
format and re-opened into OOo3.x
it is found that the document formatting is changed. e.g. Page
background, table formatting etc.

2. It is also found that, If a document has a watermark in it and is
saved into .doc format the watermark
get stretched up to the page width.

3. When  a graph is imported from a Calc into a writer, the font of
the graph shrinks horribly

Issues in Impress....
1. One of the major issues we are facing in impress is tables. The
default table has blue color which
anyone does not like at all. Everyone has their own style of creating
a table in Calc which when
is paste in Impress, changes all the formatting badly in Impress. The
table gets it own blue color
and all other. Everyone is looking for a default editable table with
just rows and coloms, no default
formatting fonts, color like blue. There is also no provision for
changing the default table format
which would have saved the users some or the other time.

Issues in Calc....
I'm colloecting it. There are many actually.

I've many issues like this in openoffice, which I want to resolve and
encourge the users to use and
spread Openoffice. Looking for your help in all these and many such issues.

If I'm missing something or going wrong somewhere, please feel free to
let me know.

Sameer Shinde.
