For your specific problem, I would suggest building with VERBOSE=1 so
that you see the actual compiler command line.

your configure command line?
./configure --enable-dbgutil --disable-binfilter --disable-odk

--with-stlport=no --disable-mediawiki --disable-vba --disable-mozilla
