In a new document under WV and 3.2.1, I followed Insert > Fields > Other
> Variables tab, selected User Field and General, supplied name Bip,
and inserted the field.
It showed up with value 0. Double-clicking gave me the same tab again,
where I could have entered a value. No freeze.
Did you mean something else?
