I have now discoverd a workaround:
1. install "Microsoft Word Viewer"
2. go to Control Panel and the option for default programs
- I can now choose two different settings for OpenOffice Writer there now.
- If I choose one of them, it work.
- If I choose the other, it works not.

So there may be some registry thing that can solve it. But I don't know how
to find out what the difference is.

I also suspect that OpenOffice.org has a bug that causes this to fail. And I
still like to fix that bug, even though I have a workaround solution.
