In my opinion this is a broader topic than the Mapbox wishlist. I think some kind of user-voice coordinator or driver or however it would be (informally, of course) called would be extremely useful. Such person would need to keep up with the current development activity (Github, Trac, dev@, rails-dev@ and others) and represent user "interests". I think this would be A LOT of work and probably not for only one person but I for one would love to see end-users more involved during development phase - testing, feedback, incremental improvements and all that. So the question for me is - who would be interested in doing such work...
