Hi Patrick, Note that these general subjects are discussed on talk while dev discussion group is more for subjects related to software development, servers technical aspects, etc. This wiki page describes Multipolygon relations used to describe complex objects.https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:multipolygon
The role outer role is for ways that trace the outer ring of the object represented. The inner role is for objects that make the inner ring. This LearnOSM tutorial shows and edit in JOSM where you trace a building with inner rings in the middle for courtyards.http://learnosm.org/en/josm/josm-relations/ Pierre De : patrick keshishian <[email protected]> À : osm dev <[email protected]> Envoyé le : Dimanche 18 Septembre 2016 23h50 Objet : [OSM-dev] Multipolygon relation way member without role Greetings, Sorry about the subject line. I couldn't come up with anything better. Continuing to learn my way through "relations" and assorted "tags", I came across relation=3489649 [0], island of Oahu, HI, USA. What interests me is its "way" member=428362225 (Way: War Memorial World War II) [1] with role="". It seems that this association is a mistake. If so, is there a better place to report these sort of things as I come across them? As I am still learning my way through the data, I don't wish to do wholesale edits. Question: Is there a general rule used when processing role=""? OSM wiki for Relation [3] indicates that roles are optional. It looks that OSM is rendering way=428362225 as an area [4]. Thanks in advance, --patrick [0] http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3489649 [1] http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/428362225 [3] http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation [4] http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3489649#map=19/21.59777/-158.10302 _______________________________________________ dev mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev
