Hello everyone,

OWB is taking part in the Google Summer of Code (GSOC) program in 2020
with the following project:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/OWB/issues/OWB-1319

In short: it's about building an injectable IoC centric, small and
lightweight HTTP server and making it runnable as a native executable.

My name is Alex and I'm the student that was accepted by Google and The
Apache Software Foundation/OWB with his project proposal. In the next
months (until end of August) I will be spending the bigger part of my
time working on the project, together with mentors Thomas Andraschko and
Romain Manni-Bucau.

The first working step will be setting up a maven sample project with
Netty and just try to get it runnable, so I can handle it. The follow-up
task will be the specification of the HTTP API, where input from the
community will be required, i. e. what will be the
requirements/capabilities for this API in the end? Romain already has
some specific ideas on that, but maybe someone has more to discuss.

For further information on the program and a short description of the
project feel free to check out the website of GSOC:
https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/projects/#4882645810413568

I am excited to learn about open source development and become a part of
the community, and I'm looking forward to working with everyone in the
following months.

Thank you all for your attention and best regards,
Alexander Fischer
