Are you using exactly gcj 3.4 or something like gcj 3.4.3 ?
You need to use a gcj >= 3.4.3

I've compiled PyLucene on gentoo and redhat with gcc 3.4.3 and gcc 3.4.4 and haven't seen this problem. Are you sure you're not using a gcc 4.x binary ? In that version, _Jv_AllocObject() has one less argument.

what goes gcc --version say ?
