Hi,
We branched m6 yesterday though we knew we had 1 missing feature and 2
potential bugs. We did that to unblock the tree and allow everybody to
commit to the trunk and resume 0.6 coding. In the meantime, Aparna
tested m6 and found a bunch of bugs, 2 of them serious enough that we
are considering to fix them in the m6 branch.
We really need to fix those ASAP of course. Those bugs are assigned to
their relevant owner, however, since there's time pressure, it would be
great if others could peak on those and help if possible. For instance I
think Bryan could help Jed on his bug and David could help John.
Since we'll need to fix the branch, extra caution is necessary. Fix the
trunk first, keep careful track of your changes, submit a patch for
review and get it reviewed before merging the change in the m6 branch.
Double check with Heikki and bear before merging anything in the branch.
We'll build the branch not automatically but only manually when required.
I'll be checking with bug owner individually but I wanted to make sure
everybody had a clear picture of the m6 status right now.
Here under is a review of those bugs:
2977 jed Add read-only icon to dv markup toolbar
This is the last "feature" left to be implemented in 0.6. Jed has been
working on it a day and made progress though he was blocked by the "how
to know if an item is read only?" problem. Bryan solved that problem
already to implement the feature/bug #2976 at the beginning of this
month so I suggest that Bryan helps out Jed on this one.
4293 jeffrey modification dialog keeps continuously popping up after
selection Cancel or Future changes
Jeffrey is aware of the problem and e-mailed yesterday to say he'd have
something ready today.
4299 jeffrey Sharing error "transformation failed for <event title> for
some calendars
This is new and resulted from Aparna's m6 test sweep. I don't have a
status from Jeffrey on this one yet. Jeffrey, let us know if you need help.
4157 john selection of an item in sidebar and summary table selects and
deselects before selecting again
This one is Mac only now and apparently related to one infamous Mac
event handling issue (or rather the fact that wx Mac event firing is
different from the 2 other platforms). John spent yesterday already
drilling through this bug and added insights in Bugzilla. David told me
(several weeks ago) that there was a string of Mac bugs linked to this
general issue. Since the bug is really bad when using several calendars
on Mac, it would be nice to have some sort of workaround in m6. David
should be helping John on that one.
4300 john 'Share <calendar>' menu option shows the wrong collection or
stays greyed out
This is new and resulted from Aparna's m6 test sweep. Actually Morgen
commented on that bug and said it's an old one and has been there
forever (though we've no record of it in Bugzilla and Aparna didn't
recall seeing that bug either). If Morgen is right, we may simply push
that bug to 0.6 but I'd like to have John's reading on it before doing so.
(fun stat: looks like you're more likely to have an m6 bug assigned to
you if your name starts with a "j" and you're in the "Apps" team.
Actually, the current correlation is 100%... "This is highly improbable"
as Data would say...)
Cheers,
- Philippe
