Chinese has more than a few characters; most fonts do not have them all.

Your query needs details. What character are you trying to show? How are you 
specifying the character? integer? Unicode? CJK? Smoke signals? What does your 
code look like? From where did you download the appropriate fonts for PDF? 

Please write the shortest Java program you can for putting the letter A and a 
Chinese character on a page. (From the above, I assume the output will show 
"A?"; that's fine.) Append this new code to this bug report. Otherwise we have 
no way of helping you.
