These APIs have been redesigned in 2.0, the old APIs which were removed are
dangerously broken. The structure of these APIs and the way they interact has
fundamentally changed in 2.0, so meaningful backwards compatibility is not
possible. The good news is that the 2.0 APIs operate at a much higher level of
abstraction and so you can replace large chunks of code with just a couple of
new API calls.
