Maruan Sahyoun commented on PDFBOX-45:
--------------------------------------

 - Reader Extensions works by adding a certificate to the PDF which ‚seals'
some of it’s content. Now changing the content invalidates the certificate
which in turn disables the Reader Extensions. The individual parts like
certificates are part of the PDF spec. The details are not part of the spec.
It’s easy to reproduce the behavior with PDFBox. Filling a Reader Extended form
with PDFBox the Reader Extensions will be invalidated prompting a message in
Adobe Reader about the fact.
 - I mentioned „certified documents“ as this term is used for a different use
case within the Adobe products. Technically its a signature.

> After opening a PDF file and changing objects out of it,
> allow to save the changes incrementally to the same file
> instead of creating a completely new file.
