You asked for a few keywords about what is improved in 2.0:
- almost full font support in rendering (should be written differently, i.e.
mention all the fonts that are supported, and leave out the one that isn't (one
OTF flavour))
- transparency groups (assuming that the recent problems are solved)
- patterns (assuming that the recent problems are solved)
- better support of "exotic" colorspaces
Different in API:
- ximage creation now factory-based (package
org.apache.pdfbox.pdmodel.graphics.image)
