Tim Allison edited comment on PDFBOX-2383 at 2/6/15 12:29 PM:
--------------------------------------------------------------

I found Aclonica identified as Apache 2.0 on Google's fonts rights
[page|https://www.google.com/fonts/attribution]. The font comes packaged with
the Apache license. The font includes the Apache license within the ttf file,
and, thanks to you all, that is correctly parsed in the "Copyright" field of
the metadata.

That said, there is also a personal copyright statement within the file and a
trademark statement. Tilman, you're right. I, too, couldn't find Aclonica on
Astigmatic's website or their link to their free
[fonts|http://www.dafont.com/author.php?author=62&page=1&nb_ppp_old=10&text=Type+your+text+here&nb_ppp=50&classt=alpha]
or on the wayback machine, which hasn't been gathering recent enough snapshots
of Astigmatic to capture this font. And, looking more closely at Astigmatic's
"freeware" [page|http://astigmatic.com/freeware.html], they do not want
redistribution:
{quote}
We only ask that you do not redistribute the fonts themselves or create
derivative products, whether other fonts, stickers, stencils, or other alphabet
products (for free or profit) to others without our permission.

Thank you, all!

I'll switch the test over on Tika to use LiberationSans-Regular.ttf

Thank you, all!

> The test files for PDFBox, FontBox, and Preflight include several files under
> copyright which we probably don't have permission to redistribute, and need
> to be removed (or preferably replaced):
> pdfbox/src/test/resources/org/apache/pdfbox/
> - -ttf/ArialMT.ttf (This is actually Bitstream Vera Sans - the license on
> this might be ok though?)-
> - -pdfparser/gdb-refcard.pdf (GPL licensed)-
> - -pdmodel/page_label.pdf (Edited by Foxit PDF for Evaluation Only)-
> - -pdmodel/font/256.pdf (Copyright 2004 Journal of Combinatorics)-
> fontbox/src/test/resources/ttf/
> - -testTrueType.ttf (NewBaskerville, Copyright © 2002 Veronika Elsner)-
> preflight/src/test/resources/org/apache/padaf/preflight/font/
> - -true_type.ttf (Subset of Microsoft Arial)-
