Tilman Hausherr commented on PDFBOX-2252:
-----------------------------------------
Here's an excellent test for mixed text extraction, this is an arabic
translation of the german constitution:
http://www.fes.de/international/nahost/pdf/GGArabisch.pdf
Use page 112, see e.g. near "August" and "Richard", the ")" is different to
Adobe Reader.
Sadly I don't know if there's a copyright for the translation, or a license.
Maybe the arabic text on page 113 has more.
Another one can be found here:
https://www.spd.de/linkableblob/12354/data/artikel1_20_arab.pdf
And a third one:
https://www.btg-bestellservice.de/pdf/80209000.pdf
this is probably public domain, but has only very few mixed content (on page 3).

> When the input document of PDFTextStripper is a combination of right-to-left
> and left-to-right languages, the output characters of one language is
> reversed.
> A sample bilingual pdf document is attached.
> PDFTextStripper has a variable "isRtlDominant" in "writePage" function, which
> is defined as follows: boolean isRtlDominant = rtlCount > ltrCount;
> This class clearly count the number of rtl characters and decide if the whole
> content should be revered or not. It's not true, it must operate on each
> word, not the whole document.
