Ha ha, they're certainly not doing OCR. The quality of OSX Preview is not
particularly good and seems to have gone down in recent years. It is however,
incredibly forgiving and I find it will often open documents too broken for
Acrobat. I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing though.
