The appearance is updated if there is an appearance entry. But when we create a
field from scratch there is none. So setValue works fine for forms created
outside of PDFBox (which is mostly the case) but if one would like to create a
form from scratch and/or add fields to an existing one there is a lot of extra
code needed. There is already PDFBOX-2604 for that.
