I don't understand why you're creating a copy. Formatting for non acroform
annotations is also formatting a rectangle. Or did you create a copy so that
you can play around with it without influencing the non acroform annotations
but you were planning to unify it again when done?
Except making stuff public, I didn't have to make a single change in your code
to use it for freetext annotations.
