Michael Klink commented on PDFBOX-4926:
---------------------------------------
Please be aware that there is a number of ways to mask parts of an image in a
PDF
* The image itself might have an associated color mask, stencil mask, or soft
mask.
* The graphics state at the time of drawing the image may have a soft mask or a
clip path set.
* The crop box (for pages) or the bounding box (for form XObjects) may cut off
parts of the image.
* Content drawn after the image may cover parts of the image.

> Hello, I want to use PDFBox for my website
> [https://miniimagesvideos.com/pdf.] I have been trying to run multiple test
> on PDF. While trying to extract images from PDF the background of images is
> sometimes not ok. It looks like this could be due to mask which was done
> while creating PDF. It will be helpful if there is any feature in PDFBox
> which ca take care of mask while trying to extract images
