I apologize if my words were hurtful or made you feel uncomfortable. Personally, I think that inviting in advance is a community convention that we typically follow. It allows all members, like myself, to feel that this project has a pleasant atmosphere that welcomes everyone.
However, given that your meeting is relatively informal and urgent, it would be inappropriate to blame you for the lack of preparation.
