Hi, This week we tried out the snapshot releases internally to see if they work. The codebase runs on Scala 2.13.10, and it has the following dependencies:
pekko-actor 0.0.0+26656-898c6970-SNAPSHOT pekko-actor-typed 0.0.0+26656-898c6970-SNAPSHOT pekko-http-core 0.0.0+4344-313e2103-SNAPSHOT pekko-http-spray-json 0.0.0+4344-313e2103-SNAPSHOT pekko-http-testkit 0.0.0+4344-313e2103-SNAPSHOT pekko-slf4j 0.0.0+26656-898c6970-SNAPSHOT pekko-stream 0.0.0+26656-898c6970-SNAPSHOT pekko-testkit 0.0.0+26656-898c6970-SNAPSHOT After migrating to Apache Pekko, we haven’t observed major issues. The codebase we migrated is tested with a combination of unit tests and integration tests (spinning up the service in containers). A couple of notes: - The migration guide published here( https://nightlies.apache.org/pekko/docs/pekko/main-snapshot/docs/project/migration-guides.html <https://nam06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnightlies.apache.org%2Fpekko%2Fdocs%2Fpekko%2Fmain-snapshot%2Fdocs%2Fproject%2Fmigration-guides.html&data=05%7C01%7Csamueleresca%40microsoft.com%7C1ea35829dccc42617a7f08db52ec034c%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C1%7C0%7C638194945838919341%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=npT0i6iJu5q6q600vr6Mlji%2FlExkGMtB%2Bl%2FlbehKgHI%3D&reserved=0>) is accurate in regards to the steps that need to be followed. - While all the integration tests pass, 2 of our unit tests are failing after migration to Apache Pekko. The issues are still under investigation, but we don’t think the failures are related to Apache Pekko itself. I will open an issue on the official repo in case the investigation results in a Pekko-specific problem. - We haven’t run any performance/load tests on the migrated codebase yet. In terms of the next steps, we are planning to continue migrating the other Akka-dependent codebases (most of them use Scala 2.13) to Pekko. I will open issues on the GitHub repository if I do any discoveries related to Pekko. Thanks in advance. Samuele
