James Taylor commented on PHOENIX-1663:
---------------------------------------

[~naveenmadhire] - please create a subtask JIRA from this one for the specific
string built-in function you'd like to implement. This JIRA is a grouping JIRA
for *all* unimplemented string functions. How about the INSTR function from
Oracle (SQL server calls it CHARINDEX and Postgres calls it POSITION) ? Once
you create that, I'll assign it to you.

> Take a look at the typical string functions that are implemented in
> relational database systems
> (http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.1/static/functions-string.html) and
> implement the same for Phoenix in Java following this guide:
> Examples of missing functions include POSITION, OVERLAY, REPEAT, etc.
