Hi Phoenix Devs,

Recently, I added multiple metrics in HBase which can help get better
insights into the reason for latency spikes and deviations. HBase JIRAs I
am referring to are: HBASE-29398
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29398>, HBASE-29494
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29494> and HBASE-29626
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29626>. HBASE-29494
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29494> and HBASE-29626
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29626> are not present in any
of the already released versions of HBase 2.6 and HBASE-29626
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29626> is needed to consume
all the above mentioned 3 HBase JIRAs in Phoenix.
Thus, I would like to propose to create a new phoenix-hbase-compat module
for the next 2.6 HBase version (most likely 2.6.4) once it's released.
HBASE-29626 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29626> introduces
a new method in HBase 2.6 which is not present in earlier HBase 2.6
versions.
I would like to get inputs from the community regarding the above proposal
and if we are good to proceed with adding one more phoenix-hbase-compat
module once the new version of HBase 2.6 is available.

Thanks,
Sanjeet Malhotra
