Have we considered using a hint in a select statement to convey the necessary
split information and still preserve the select syntax? Hints appear to be an
accepted mechanism to convey implementation specific details within a high
level query, and are supported in the Phoenix grammar already.
It may be possible to use the classes you mention behind the scenes somehow.
