Thank you so much for posting this.
I am a Pig newbie and have spent much of this week struggling (& failing) to
get Pig to compile in Eclipse.
These steps worked fine for me.
As a stopgap measure someone should update

FYI: The path(rathole) that I ran down was related to IvyDE ...
