We'll probably need at least Hive 2.3.0 for our Hadoop3 efforts anyway. I can
look into this patch (unless [~daijy] has any objections of course)
As for working with Hive1: we can keep it for now, but I think we should mark
Hadoop2 and Hive1 (and btw Hbase 1 as well) as deprecated versions for Pig to
work with in the upcoming release (0.18.0), and maybe get rid of them in the
next (0.19.0) one - so that we don't have to drag an ever-growing support
matrix with us.
