I am not a Mac user, so can't comment on that side of things, but I can't
really see the need for a whole new class (and the duplication that entails)
just to be able to change the direction of the slide animation, especially when
it can be achieved with the addition of a single style and trivial code
changes.
Sheet behaviour would be unchanged until the new style is changed from default
value, meaning that it is not an invasive change.
