The fundamental problem is that developers are not excited about "applets". As I said, I had hoped that we'd see an applet renaissance alongside increased developer interest in other plugin-based technologies, but the opposite has actually happened - developers are now much less interested in plugins than they were several years ago. Since many developers seem to perceive Pivot exclusively as a tool for building applets, we need to do something to change that perception.
Developers do seem to be interested in the following: - Maintaining or extending existing Swing-based applications - The Eclipse ecosystem - Mobile development I think we should focus on making it as easy as possible to use Pivot in these scenarios, though not at the expense of applet deployment - there's no reason we can't continue to support that. It just won't be the primary focus.
