Lose the history. The stuff in the sandbox is not likely to have
important history anyways. The important history is in the main repo
components, not the samples.

Hi all,

so for the last days I have tried splitting up the repos while containing
the history.
Seems there are issues with that as the process keeps on crashing on one or
two commits.

Now the question … I could do a very time-consuming process of plitting out
each module into a separate branch and merging them back together.

Or I simply copy stuff to the new repo and live with the fact that the
commit history is still in the old main repo.

Keeping the history will probably take a while for me to finish.
