I think we have setup the website to always reflect the state of “develop” … if
we simply switch it to the “release” branch, then the website will magically
update every time we release.

I think this was a relic of the times when things moved so quickly, that we
always wanted the most recent stuff out in the wild.
I do think it would make sense to have the page reflect the latest version on
the “release” branch and to possibly have a second copy of the site under
“plc4x.apache.org/dev/”.

And regarding the weekend stuff … it’s just that it happened in the past that
things were not finished and broke and I was stuck having to fix them … so I
just wanted to make it clear, that I’m not going to do that in case of a switch
of website tools.

our website setup
Totally agreeing with your statement. As far as I understand
the streampipes setup works in a similar way. The website updates when you
push code changes to https://github.com/apache/streampipes if I understand
Dominiks statement correctly?

Of course we can also just wait until the 4.0.0 site plugin release and the
fixes.

And additionally I want to highlight that nobody wants you to spend your
weekend on fixing stuff!

I just like the way all the docs and stuff updates on the website when
StreamPipes does a new release.

@Dominik Riemer <rie...@apache.org> Please elaborate how the setup works
and how much effort it would be to switch to Docusaurus from your
perspective.

If this change implies a lot more effort then we just stay with the current
setup. At least we have then documented on the mailing list about this
option :-)

Cheers
Lukas
